The BREKO Glass Fiber Fair is now called "FIBERDAYS19 - The Glass Fiber Fair". FIBERDAYS19 - The fiber optics trade fair continues the success story of the BREKO fiber optic trade fair and develops not only nationally but also Europe-wide into a recognized trade fair for all aspects of future-proof real fiber optic as basic infrastructure for the digital world. The proven concept with the trade fair exhibition as the focal point of FIBERDAYS19, supplemented by practical seminars & workshops, a highly interesting congress program and many opportunities for networking will be retained and further developed with additional focal points. On a dedicated area of around 650 m², visitors can experience the SMART CITY theme in lectures, interactive showcases and a guided tour through the entire value chain. In cooperation with TÜV Rheinland and under the patronage of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, SMART CITY PLAZA is designed as an open, communicative and informative space. Starting with a Smart City Readiness Check and information on technologies and platforms, through to the creation of a business case and financing solutions, SMART CITY PLAZA offers an answer to every question. Gürkan Ünlü, Senior Vice President at TÜV Rheinland, is convinced: "The digital transformation of a city into a Smart City is based on real fiber-optic infrastructure and requires local authorities to be open to new ideas. With the help and support of our experts, we pave the way to the Smart City. FIBERDAYS19 will provide practical examples of how digitization for cities and municipalities can be successful and financed". "Digital cities and regions need a high-performance broadband infrastructure as a foundation. Within the framework of the FIBERDAYS fiber-optics trade fair, local authorities can obtain advice and information on how they can achieve this goal together with partners," says Alexander Handschuh, spokesman for the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, assessing the SMART CITY PLAZA concept. "Many business models of the gigabit society will only become reality if the fiber optic cable is also installed as the basic infrastructure. The Civil Engineering Exchange is our practical and uncomplicated approach to finding solutions to the much-discussed capacity bottleneck in passive network expansion and to make a significant contribution to networking the players with each other and to profit from an exchange on new methods, innovative techniques and processes", comments Dr. Stephan Albers, Managing Director of BREKO, on the currently discussed challenges in fiber optics expansion. The RheinMain KongressCenter (RMCC) in Wiesbaden with an area of over 10,000 m² is ideally suited for this comprehensive concept. FIBERDAYS19 will change location next year. From 2019 it will use the brand new RMCC in Wiesbaden, which was officially opened just a few months ago. The RheinMain CongressCenter is an innovative and multifunctional exhibition and congress center - and offers just the right conditions for FIBERDAYS19 to become even bigger, more digital and more eventful. Association head and organizer Dr. Stephan Albers: "With FIBERDAYS19 on 27 and 28 March next year, we not only want to continue the success story of our fiber optic trade fair, but also take another big step towards a trade fair for all aspects of future-proof fiber optics that is no longer only known and recognized nationally, but also throughout Europe. This development is supported by gold sponsor Cisco, the world's leading IT company, and other industry giants such as Axians, Faber, Genexis, Ocilion and purtel. The central motto of this telecommunications industry highlight is "We build the networks - and shape Germany's digital future! From the planning of state-of-the-art fiber optic networks to rollout and app development. More than 2,500 national and international trade visitors are expected. Around 200 exhibitors have the opportunity to present their products, services and innovations. About BREKO The German Broadband Association (BREKO) represents the majority of all alternative fixed line broadband network operators in Germany. BREKO members rely on future-proof fiber infrastructure and currently account for around 70 percent of the competitive FTTB/H deployment. Since its inception in 1999, BREKO has successfully advocated for competition on the German telecommunications market. All of our members, including more than 190 city and regional carriers as well as municipal utilities, provide urban as well as rural areas, the so-called "white spots", with high-performance fiber access. To this end, they have invested approximately EUR 2.1 billion with a sales revenue of EUR 8 billion in 2017. BREKO companies thus make a major contribution to the comprehensive fiber deployment in Germany and to the achievement of the German Federal Government’s broadband targets. BREKO members are willing and prepared to continue their significant investments in order to establish fiber as the proper foundation for digitization and to pave the way for Germany towards the Gigabit Society. BREKO is committed to achieving this goal by providing expert knowledge on adequate political and regulatory framework conditions. The leading German fiber association has positioned itself consistently with a clear infrastructure target - the nationwide availability of fiber optic connections with at least 1 GBit/s by the year 2025.
