With three days of intense discussions and inspiring keynotes, this year's E-world Kick-off once again marked a successful start to the E-world season.
The digital event focused on the key topics and challenges of the energy transition, bringing together industry experts. High-caliber presentations and engaging panel discussions provided valuable insights and set important impulses for the sector.
Our CEO Dr. Roman Dudenhausen opened the first day of the E-world Kick-off with a fireside chat with Klaus Müller, President of the Federal Grid Agency. Dr. Dudenhausen incorporated the ideas from the discussion into the subsequent panel discussion, which was joined by Thomas König (COO, E.ON), Dr. Christoph Müller (Managing Director, Amprion) and Robert Busch (Managing Director, Bundesverband Neue Energiewirtschaft). The opening day focused on one central topic: grid security. Under the key question “Can the grid bear the energy transition?”, current challenges such as the design of grid fees and the approach to grid expansion were highlighted.
Due to recent political developments, one central topic came into focus: What impact will the premature end of the coalition government have on progress in grid expansion, and what priorities and responsibilities will the next government need to take on in this context? The legislative initiatives introduced by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Robert Habeck, received some praise. However, the panel expressed regret that crucial legislative proposals, such as the reform of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG), are unlikely to be passed during this legislative period. Furthermore, the absence of an approved federal budget for 2025 was highlighted as a significant issue, complicating planning and potentially stalling critical investments.
The existing distribution debate and the desire of industry and Small and Medium Enterprises for competitive electricity costs were also addressed and discussed. The focus was therefore on the fair structuring of grid fees.
The other days of the kick-off were dedicated to the topics: “Security of european energy supply in times of multipolar crisis” and “How to finance the municipal heat transition?”
