Starting signal for E-world 2026: Kick-off from 16 to 18 September

10.09.2025

The E-world Kick-off, the digital launch event for E-world energy & water 2026, will take place from 16 to 18 September 2025.

The online conference will give a foretaste of the on-site fair in February. Under the motto "Navigating Europe's Energy Future!", high-ranking representatives from business and politics will discuss key issues of the energy transition - from the design of the European electricity infrastructure to the nature of the future gas market and the role of municipal authorities in the energy transition.

On the first day of the conference, 16 September, from 10:00 to 12:00, Dr Roman Dudenhausen, CEO of con|energy ag, will moderate a panel discussion on the topic ‘Connecting Europe – Are the Electricity Grids Ready for the Energy Market Transition?’

The electricity grid is the backbone of a successful European energy transition. The demands on this critical infrastructure will increase even further in the future as renewable energies become more integrated. Decentralised plants require additional grid connections, and large amounts of electricity from offshore wind farms need to be distributed. At the same time, security of supply must be guaranteed at all times and the grid must be protected against physical and digital attacks.

While these tasks are already complex at national level, they pose an even greater challenge at European level: the expansion of new interconnectors, the introduction of uniform standards and common regulations are key steps. At the same time, the question arises as to how far EU regulation has come today, how the common electricity market can be shaped in the future and what measures are necessary for an efficient, future-proof grid.

Dr Roman Dudenhausen discusses these topics together with José Novais Gonçalves (EDP Group), Oliver Schubert (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners), Pierre Bernard (Bernard Energy Advocacy) und Dr. Dirk Biermann (50Hertz) during the panel discussion at the start of E-world Kick-off.

The following two days of the kick-off event will focus on the topics ‘Natural Gas in the European Energy Transition: Bridge, Blockade, or Both?’ and ‘Local, Innovative, Together - How Municipalities and SMEs are Shaping the Future of Energy’. The event will feature prominent guests from the industry on all three days.
