Stadtwerke Aachen AG (STAWAG) has been operating a new type of online store for energy services since mid-September 2020 to meet growing customer requirements in the digital sales process.
With the help of the store, STAWAG is already generating significant sales increases in the first few weeks of its use.
The store is based on the white-label solution "green|portal" from green|connector, which enables providers of energy services to set up an online store within a few weeks. The service portfolio of the STAWAG store focuses on electromobility products at the start and will be successively expanded. In the first two months, STAWAG has already been able to generate five-figure euro sales through genuine online contracts and to tap into a sales potential of almost two hundred thousand euros from product inquiries.
Innovative store approach is commercially successful
Andreas Maul, Head of Sales at STAWAG, sums up the first few weeks: "Our high expectations have been completely fulfilled. The current online sales figures show: The store solution works and inspires our customers. We are pleased with the increasing sales of our e-mobility products. It also confirms the path we have taken with the consistent development of our e-mobility business model."
Online stores for the non-commodity business of municipal utilities are still not very common in the energy industry. Yet they offer a user experience that B2C and B2B customers are accustomed to from other successful online stores: with intuitive ordering processes such as shopping cart functions, legally secure online contract conclusion with direct online payment and cross-selling. This enables municipal utilities to engage in genuine e-commerce that works and generates revenue.
